The 20th Major League Lacrosse season will kick off on May 30th.
“We are thrilled to be launching our twentieth MLL season on May 30, 2020.” said Alexander Brown, Major League Lacrosse Commissioner. “For the last twenty years, this league has showcased the best athletes our sport has to offer, and we look forward to continuing that trend in 2020.”
May 30th is one day earlier than the 2019 opener which took place on May 31 between the Denver Outlaws and the New York Lizards. As for the Boston Cannons their 2019 season kicked off on June 1st. It is unclear at this time when Opening game matchup and full schedule will be released by the league.
2019 was a year of both transition and progress for MLL that saw a reduction in the number of teams but also progress and growth in their existing markets. Last year due to the late reduction in teams the league had to re-shuffle the schedule after it was initially released and also had to have re-entry drafts for the displaced players. In 2019 the Boston Cannons posted a 9-7 overall record finishing in a tie for second place with the Denver Outlaws.
Stay tuned for more MLL and Boston Cannons news as we move closer to the May 30th start date as a lot of movement is expected both.
