Offense Down to One Personnel
Patriots had a very difficult first half during their Thursday night game against the New York Giants, whom they for years struggled with. Rookie QB Daniel Jones led his tied Giants being tied 14-14 in the second quarter.

However, the Patriots defense played fantastic as they have been this season. They hindered down a very depleted Giants offense to relying on former Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate. Daniel Jones was 1 TD and 3 INTs on the night and with this win, Bill Belichick is 12-0 vs rookie QBs in his coaching career.
As for why the Patriots struggled so much during the first half, it came down to the Giants defense playing perfect in getting pressure on Brady. This resulted in multiple turnovers and the team only got off to a 7-0 start with a special teams TD from a muffed punt return.
The worst timing was Brady fumbling the football on a sack and the ball was returned to Patriots endzone and WR Josh Gordon got his leg injured. This was after TE Matt LaCosse was forced out with a knee injury which forced the Patriots to shift their entire scheme to be strictly one personnel for the remainder of the game.

Somehow Thursday night was brutal as Tom Brady scored with 2 rushing TDs alongside special teamer Brandon Bolden scoring one as well on the offensive side of the ball. But even though the Patriots pulled out with the 35-14 win, the injuries piled up tonight for the team on both sides of the ball.
As of now, the Patriots are allowed to release only 2 players off the Injury Reserve List which includes: David Andrews (C), Keionta Davis (DL), James Develin (FB), Hjalte Froholdt (OL), Malik Gant (DB), Stephen Gostkowski (K), N’Keal Harry (WR), Brandon King (DB), Derek Rivers (DE), D’Angelo Ross (DB) and Isaiah Wynn (OT). With the current roster, they might have no choice but to pull the trigger and activate Isaiah Wynn and N’Keal Harry to beef up both OL and WR depth.
But for the situation at TE, it’s very difficult to see if Ryan Izzo can remain in the starting line up without worry of injury. Anybody can be replaced but only having one player left at such a critical position is too much to chance so Bill Belichick will likely have to find a way to will Rob Gronkowski off commentary as Fox Sport’s latest addition to the analysts table. But it’s very likely that before the 31st of October, Belichick will add another TE via trade following veteran Ben Watson’s release from the team this week.
