For the first time in Bryant Bull Dogs Men’s Basketball Team history, the Bull Dogs have defeated Cornell. Bryant hosted Big Red on Sunday and was able to edge out an 82-81 victory over the Ivy League program.
With the win, the Bull Dogs move to 1-2 on the year with all three games being decided by two or fewer points.
Bryant was led by guard Adam Grant who scored a game-high 24 points in 26 minutes played. Grant has now scored 20 or more points in the first three games of the year. Bryant’s bench came up huge as well with both Lin Benson and Mikail Simmons in double-digit scoring. Another performer on the bench for the Bull Dogs was forward Patrick Harding. Harding collected 19 total rebounds. It was Harding’s second double-digit rebound performance of the season.
As a whole, this was a game that almost got away for Bryant. The Bull Dogs had a 42-34 lead going into the half over Big Red. Cornell was able to battle back in the second half outscoring Bryant 47-40 and making it a tight ball-game right up until the closing seconds.
Bryant will now head to St.Peters on Wednesday with the game being broadcasted on ESPN+ starting at 7 pm est… After that, the Bull Dogs will come home on Friday when they host Northern Vermont-Lyndon.
